GETTING HEALTHY FOR FIFTY
2/19/2023 0 Comments new week - new goalsI'm a bit pumped for the new week. It took me a very long time to get motivated to get back into eating healthy. I am convinced one reason is that the Burton Nutrition plan I was following was no longer a thing. They used to have weekly motivational Zoom lives and I miss that. (also, it was Steve Burton from General Hospital!!! I mean, him being the head of the getting healthy movement? Yeah! Talk about motivational! Then I would turn on the tv weekday afternoons and there he was - Jason Morgan.) In 2022 the products became extremely difficult to get. But as of yesterday - THEY ARE BACK!!! That little thing has my motivation through the roof! (obviously I need to wait for them to be shipped to me) The company name has changed but the products are still the same and I'm looking forward to my protein shake for lunch and my green coffee bean supplements. I did it before on Burton Nutrition (check out my bio if you want to know more about that) so I have no doubt I can do it on the M3 plan! (the new name)

2/19/2023 0 Comments everyplate meal twoTonight I made FARMERS MARKET LINGUINE from EVERYPLATE. It is a vegetarian meal, but I didn't choose it for that reason. I chose it because it looked good. I am a pasta girl (I'm Italian, so...) I could eat pasta all the time, but I always wanted to make it with veggies for something lighter. I have tried before on my own and it was bland and missing something.
So having a recipe seemed like a good time to try it! Of course, the guys in the house shook their head and scoffed at a "vegetarian meal". So I bought chicken tenders for them to eat with their pasta. I swear my sweet-spot time to making dinner ranges from 1-2 hours no matter what it is, lol. (no matter how simple it is!) The recipe says ready in 40 minutes. Well, it took me an hour and twenty minutes. SMH... At least I'm trying, right? All I can do is laugh about my lacking kitchen skills, i mean what else am I going to do? Luckily I have a husband who will eat anything I make (no matter how burnt or overcooked it is) and a son who up until recently would eat anything. (he's at the age now where if he doesn't want what I made he might choose to just not eat-he's a young adult, he will eat if he's hungry) After all was said and done, I enjoyed the meal. It was missing something, but I liked it. I liked the zucchini and mushrooms. I might use more next time. I give it a 9 out of 10. 2/17/2023 0 Comments first everyplate mealI made our first meal from EVERYPLATE tonight. Smoky Chicken Flautas. (what is a Flauta? Well I googled it and it is basically a rolled taco or a taquito) I'm going to give it a 7 out of 10. (closer to a 6) The spice blend wasn't' my favorite, I'm like just a taco seasoning girl. And the chicken strips provided were odd - some of them were tender and normal, others were rubbery. Now, you get this even in frozen chicken you buy at the store, so it's not just a knock to EVERYPLATE. I've had some seriously rubbery chicken with the TYSON name on it recently! The homemade pico de gallo was okay, I think I missed something, or it needed more salt, not sure. But it took me FOREVER to make, lol. I think I mentioned before that things that say they take a half hour, for some reason it takes me 3x as long to make it. I move super slow in the kitchen. Maybe because I hate it, LOL. Maybe it's because I keep checking the recipe over and over again to make sure I'm doing it right, lol... but this time the recipe card said 10 minute Prep, and 30 minutes total. I clocked myself at 1 HOUR and FIFTEEN MINUTES! (not the recipes fault, it's just me, I swear) I don't have an opinion of EVERYPLATE yet. Guess we'll see what the next meal brings! Here's the photo, and what mine looked like (sorry, I didn't take a photo BEFORE I started to eat, lol) 2/14/2023 0 Comments Every PlateI really hate to cook and I am pretty bad at it, so that leaves us with less than healthy meals usually - and I mean when I cook, lol. In the past I've tried Blue Apron, and we liked it. And the bonus was we all lost weight while we were using it. The meals were healthier and portioned properly. But, that became expensive.
Honestly, grocery shopping in 2023 is so expensive that I should look into Blue Apron again. BUT, I was looking for a meal service that didn't require a lot of prep. Because when it comes to me cooking, if a recipe says it takes 30 minutes to prepare, it will take me 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour to prepare...and sadly I'm not even kidding, lol. I think I move like molasses because I'm miserable doing it, hahaha. So, I came across EveryPlate on social media. The meals looked like there was a nice variety to choose from, and the whole family would be happy with. Add in the new customer discount and I was on board! So, our first box arrived and now we'll just have to wait and see if it works for us! So Stay tuned!! EVERYPLATE |
