GETTING HEALTHY FOR FIFTY
4/1/2023 0 Comments the struggle is realYou'll never believe it. And this is NO April Fool's joke either... today I was doing some spring cleaning (after standing at the sink doing dishes) I bent over to pick something up, and *BOOM* I threw out my back AGAIN!!! I was ALL BETTER! This time I think it is the other side (not positive)
Needless to say, the cleaning stopped. Luckily this time I was able to stand straight up (with the help of the doorway I was standing near) and then stretch it out. Apparently staying bent over, and resting it is NOT what you are supposed to do. It still hurts, but now I know the correct way to stand/walk to take the stress off of my lower back. I am convinced it is standing at the sink doing dishes! ( our dishwasher broke, so I've been hand washing dishes for a few weeks now) I think it is time to get moving on finding a new dishwasher. Anyway...I am grateful that I went out on Friday to buy our ham, rolls, and potatoes for Easter dinner. Mom is making lunch, but dinner is left up to us, so I am cooking for the three of us. We have the essentials, ham, potatoes (I still need to buy the cheese), and rolls. I will buy dessert too, since our oven isn't working right (yes, when it rains it pours) I've got a few ideas. Easter and Christmas are my favorite holiday meals, Ham and potatoes. I don't eat it any other time of the year, so I enjoy and savor when I can. And we love leftovers (besides me loving to eat it for like a whole week after, I love leftovers because it's a meal I don't have to plan or make) I do think I'll make some healthy veggie side dishes as the week goes on though. Balance it out. And since our oven is broke, I'll be making our cheesy au gratin potatoes in the air fryer-I think. Not 100% sure yet. But this back issue is really making things difficult. I can't stand for very long (again), so guess I'm going to need help getting the few dishes ready for Sunday. WHYYYYY does this keep happening? I was feeling good and ready to get back to walking, getting my steps in, and using my leg pump for my Lymphedema (it is awkward enough to pull those on, there is NO way I can do it with my back so messed up) Heading to the chiropractor ASAP. So all I can do this week till it feels better is watch what I'm eating. Get in my fruits and veggies, and watch the carbs. (and of course drink my water) And get back to the shakes for lunch. Luckily I bought lots of fruits and veggies last week. Yep, lots of apples, they are a current favorite in our house. I'm sure losing weight will help this from happening to my back in the future, or maybe exercising more will limber up my muscles and keep them from locking up, causing this. OR maybe I just need to stretch before I do dishes? LOL... The struggle is real. If you need me, I'll be over here stretching and eating apples...
