GETTING HEALTHY FOR FIFTY
6/8/2023 0 Comments Have to start somewhereThe other day I was sitting in a doctors office. I looked down and myself and felt like a big blob. I knew it was time to make a drastic change in my life. The last year has been ups and downs and lots of downs.
I was in a tank top and shorts, and it dawned on me why teens wear hoodies in the summer! They are young and still getting comfortable in their own skin, so they cover up instead of letting it all hang out. I never had issue with this myself (as an adult) but here I am at 48 no longer comfortable in my own skin. I realized that all winter I was so comfortable in hoodies, big tshirts, and comfy pants. Now here we are tank top and shorts weather. Sitting at home I'm fine, but once I go out and walk past a mirror, I see how bad I look. I recently went to a family party and it was chilly, so I wore a tank top but kept my zip up sweatshirt on. Once the party was over I realized how comfortable I was in my sweatshirt. Now I compare that to the teens in hoodies thing. I am bigger than I've ever been right now. It's not good for my heart, it's not good for my health, and not good for my mental health. I'm just not happy. I have seen that Emgality could cause weight gain and I am on that, but I'm not passing the buck just yet. My food choices have been terrible the last year. I will tell you I recently talked to my doctor and she suggested Wegovy. I did some research on it, and that's when I saw most of it is backordered. So even if I decided to go on it, I might not be able to continue once I start it. It just seems like a gamble. So that will have to go on the backburner even if I was ready to make that leap. Instead I bought some new protein powders to try and ordered the Green Coffee Bean caps I used when I lost all the weight last time (and kept it off for 2 years). This is going to be a work in progress. But I have to start somewhere.
