GETTING HEALTHY FOR FIFTY
It's been a long time since I was motivated in this direction. I bought a cherry danish from the grocery store for dessert. Needless to say, it was gross. My first thought was "I could make this myself and I'm sure it would be better". I mean, puff pastry and cherry pie filling? How hard could that be? And you know me, I don't like to cook.
Then I began to think of all the other things that we buy and are crappy but we could make it ourselves. Reminder, I don't even enjoy making Christmas cookies. It's like a chore. I put it off, and complain while doing it. I make those because I feel like I have to, and because we like to eat them, lol. But here I am wanting to make a cherry braided danish, and these chocolate chip cookies (made with cake mix) that I found online. While making things at home is not a new concept, it's actually going back to basics like when we were growing up, for us it is. I am all about convenience. I don't know how long this motivation will last, lol. But it's a start. When I followed Burton Nutrition years ago, I tried to make all fresh foods versus processed. I never purchased chicken nuggets or frozen french fries while following that. I used potatoes to make roasted or sometimes fries. We ate lots of vegetables steamed or roasted. Then 2020 hit and I begrudgingly got back into the processed crap. Now I need to start all over. Here's hoping I have some follow through. Only time will tell.
